XSense technology was used to monitor the temperature in cherry shipments from Turkey to Europe. Sensors were evenly distributed in pallets on board the truck, and a communication unit was placed in the vehicle cabin. This made it possible to track shipment locations and use alerts to take corrective action, all in real time.
XSense was also used to determine the quality of different refrigeration units in use. Up to 243 shipments were analyzed for temperature distribution in the pallets. This led to a significant reduction in temperature alerts and better air distribution, avoiding hot and cold spots. Real time alerts permitted intervention to reduce the risk of freezing damage, leading to risk mitigation of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single season.
