On 16 May UNIVEG Bulgaria inaugurates its new Logistic Centre. The opening of UNIVEG’s latest Logistic Centre in Bulgaria, further demonstrates the Group’s growth oriented policy, as well as showing the Group’s confidence in the region.
H.E. Ambassador Marc Michielsen, the mayor of Elin Palin, Mrs Galia Georgieva along with UNIVEG Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Theo de Kool, conducted the opening ceremony. Also in attendance were a number of key customers, business partners from the industry and representatives from the trade and service sectors.
State-of-the-art facility
Located in Elin Pelin, the new Logistic Centre has a total warehousing and distribution area of 8,000 sqm. A key feature of the building is the installation of “state-of- the-art” technology allowing the operation to fulfill the strictest requirements.
The facility has specifically been designed to fulfill the needs of UNIVEG’s break-bulk and cross docking operations in the fresh and frozen produce sectors. To meet the designated operational requirements the building boasts 25 loading docks with 4 separate sections to accommodate varying temperature zones, ranging from –25°C up to 18°C.
The new facillity will also house UNIVEG Bulgaria’s country office, providing employment to the area for approximately 100 people.

Landmark in Temperature Controlled Logistics in Bulgaria
UNIVEG has been active in Bulgaria since 2006. Over this period the Group has carved out a leading position in the field of temperature controlled logistics.
The completion of the new site allows UNIVEG to offer additional and varied services from break-bulk and cross docking to long term storage.
Whilst having the ability to handle significant volumes of fresh produce the new facility has been designed to meet the latest standards in food safety thus ensuring that UNIVEG Bulgaria can provide an optimal logistics service to a broad base of customers, from retailers to food service.
