Hein Deprez has decided to establish an Executive Management team for the Business Unit Fruit & Vegetables.
This Business Unit has grown vastly through internal growth and acquisitions such as - among others - Bakker Barendrecht, the Bocchi group, the Katopé group and most recently Atlanta and Alara. It is now a global leader in its field with growing and sourcing activities in all major regions in the world and it is a premier fresh produce provider in Europe.
Francis Kint is appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Business Unit Fruit & Vegetables, reporting to UNIVEG's Chief Executive Officer of the UNIVEG group of companies, Hein Deprez, who will continue to assume leadership of UNIVEG's management team worldwide. Francis will focus on the strategic and market development aspects. He will remain Managing Director of UNIVEG Deutschland and will continue to devote an important part of his time to UNIVEG's business in Germany.
Tom Paemeleire is appointed Chief Operations Officer of the Business Unit Fruit & Vegetables, reporting to Francis. He will lead all growing and sourcing entities as well as the operations of the Business Unit. He will transfer his current responsibilities as Chief Integration Officer to the existing management team at UNIVEG Deutschland.
Eric Aelvoet is appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Business Unit Fruit & Vegetables, reporting to Francis. Eric has over 11 years of experience working for the UNIVEG group.
The objective of this change is to have the Business Unit led by a 100% focussed team. It will maximise synergies by further integrating the companies of the group and it will make all UNIVEG's product lines and competences of its teams available to all markets. The team will continue to operate under UNIVEG's customer focussed approach and strategy.
Hein Deprez will continue in his global role of CEO of the UNIVEG group of companies, including the Business Units Fruit & Vegetables, Flowers & Plants, Convenience, Transport & Logistics.
The above changes become effective September 8th, 2009.
