When you really do your best for UNIVEG, you get a great deal in return. Lots of opportunities, for example
He’s barely 33, but Vitor Figueiredo already has an impressive track record at the UNIVEG group. “That’s because of the opportunities that UNIVEG provides. When you show drive, ambition and the desire to achieve results, then so much is possible in the company.” Vitor studied economics and began his career in 2000 as a consultant with Arthur Andersen. Later, he became Finance Manager for the Portuguese subsidiaries of a Spanish construction firm. In 2006, he applied for the position of CFO at UNIVEG Portugal.
“I was familiar with the dynamism of the group, and I absolutely wanted to be a part of it. After a year and a half in Portugal, UNIVEG asked me to lead the finance department of the Trade and Convenience companies in the US. Three years later, when the Country Manager of UNIVEG Portugal went in search of new horizons, I came back to take his place.”
UNIVEG Portugal provides logistics and distribution services to several customers in Portugal. A strategically located operation, with a storage capacity of almost 15,000 pallets and a throughput of 35,000 boxes per day, receives the goods for storage in temperature-controlled warehouses. From there, the frozen foods and fresh products – like fish, cheese, ham, fruit, vegetables, and so on – go to various sales outlets in the country.
The challenge is to make the business run as efficiently as possible and to serve the customer optimally. “It’s impressive to see all that the logistics and transport entail – and how our almost 100 employees make the dynamic flow of products from a variety of sources run smoothly.” Vitor is extremely proud of ‘his’ company and team, and of the entire group which is composed of nothing but helpful colleagues. And he’s thankful because he has gotten so many opportunities, including internationally. As he says himself: “My job was the right challenge at the right moment and in the right group.”
