Vincent van Dijk

Logistics Manager
At UNIVEG, my contribution makes a difference.

Vincent van Dijk majored in plant breeding at college, with a minor in logistics. It was during his studies that he first encountered UNIVEG. “At the time, I was looking for a traineeship where I could develop my knowledge of plants and logistics in a retail environment. I contacted UNIVEG and ended up in Portugal working for one of their customers. My role was to identify areas for improvement in the supply chain between the customer and UNIVEG, which was developing a logistics services centre at the time.”

After graduation, Vincent began working for a large retailer in the Netherlands, followed an experience in logistics process management at a pepper sorting centre. A few years later, when I was on the lookout for a new challenge, I heard that UNIVEG was hiring logistics project leaders. I accepted on the spot and helped set up a frozen foods line for a retailer in Portugal. Once that project was up and running, I made a switch to UNIVEG Trade Benelux, where I became Logistics Manager in 2008. Our offices are in Waddinxveen, outside Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and we distribute fruit and vegetables from the Netherlands to supermarket chains in Germany.

“To me, working at UNIVEG is both a challenge and an amazing opportunity. The company has grown exponentially in the past few years, and to support this kind of growth, you need a high performance logistics department. Not to mention good collaboration among colleagues. Another thing is that the company encourages you to take initiative. Once you get the green light on a project, it’s all yours. It goes without saying that this is what drives you to deliver excellence, the key to real progress.”
