Danny Beeuwsaert

Truck driver from the very beginning at EFT
On the road in my truck, I feel as free as a bird!

Danny was already driving about 25 years ago for Hein Deprez, the founder of UNIVEG, even before the name UNIVEG was invented. “Back then, Hein cultivated mushrooms, and gradually he took over a number of companies or founded new ones. In 1993 – when the UNIVEG Group was already active – the national and international transport and the distribution of fresh products were centralised in the new company called European Food Transport (EFT). I’ve been working there for 17 years now, and I still find it super.”

Danny drives only in Belgium. He picks up fresh vegetables for the group in Roeselare, and together with EFT’s dispatching he divides the extra loads among his colleagues. When that job is finished, he climbs into his truck again to deliver goods to customers of the UNIVEG Group, primarily supermarkets. “You couldn’t drag me away from UNIVEG, because the atmosphere here is exceptional. You get the room to take initiative as if it was your own business. And I enjoy the freedom to organise my work myself, which enables me to help others. Plus, on the road in my truck, I feel as free as a bird!”

That a job with UNIVEG offers a lot of satisfaction is also apparent from the fact that Danny’s two younger brothers have also been working for years as truck drivers for EFT in Belgium. “Wim drives back and forth in Zeebrugge between a customer’s site and the harbour. And every day you’ll find Nico somewhere between Ghent and Doornik, on the road with products from or for UNIVEG.
